LeRoy James Hays

LeRoy loved to fish.

 

LeRoy James Hays was born 7 May 1924, Moville, to Harry W. and Ina (Cooper) Hays. He graduated from Lawton in 1941. He played baseball, fished, and played cards.

Enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served to 1946.

Trained Great Lakes, Illinois, Stationed Pearl Harbor TH. Served on the U.S. Shaw 373, U.S.S. LST 755.

Ranks held AS, HA 2/c, HA 1/c, Phm 3/c, Phm 2/c, and Phm 1/c.

Discharged 11 January 1946, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Postwar brought employment as a Switchman/brakeman for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Retired after working 36 years.

Married Mary C. Davidson, 2 May 1947, at Sioux City. Children born to this union are Bill Lee, Suzanne Linck, Bob Alan, and Brad LeRoy.

LeRoy died 24 November 1993, Sioux City. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered as he wished.
