WAR PRISONER.

S. Sgt. Joseph A. Friedl, formerly reported missing in action since last November 28, has been reported a German prisoner of war, according to a telegram received from the War Department by his wife, Betty, who lives at 1659 W. 29th street.

First news of his being a prisoner was received by Pvt. John Spiegel of Sioux City who has been in the same prison camp and was exchanged recently, returning to the States.

Sgt. Friedl, a former buyer at the Sioux City Stockyards for the Wilson Packing company of Chicago, entered the service December 7, 1942, and received his training at Camp Chaffee, Ark., and Campbell, Ky.  He has been overseas since last October where he was serving with an armored force of the Seventh Army in France.
