Herbert Dugan, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dugan of Kingsley, was recently promoted to the rank of staff sergeant upon being graduated as an honor student from the aerial gunnery school at Fort Meyers, Fla. Sergeant Dugan has been awarded his gunner’s wings and is awaiting assignment to bombardment squadron. The Sergeant also has completed a course in the radio school at Sioux Falls, S.D., and will be assigned to a bomber as a radio gunner.

Tech. Sergt. Herbert Dugan, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dugan, arrived home Tuesday night of last week to spend a furlough in the home of his parents and with other relatives and friends in this vicinity. Sergt. Dugan has spent 12 months in the Mediterranean Theatre of war, and served as radio-gunner on one of the bombers which have been giving the Germans a good working over. Herb has been on well over three score missions over enemy territory.

Herbert Dale Dugan was born Sept. 24, 1921 to Leroy and Mary Fitzpatrick Dugan. He died July 22, 1993 and is buried in Golden Cemetery, Golden, CO.
