Onawa Navy Flier Rides Dive Bomber to Death in Ocean
Onawa, Ia.—Special: A telegram received here Thursday by Walter Simpson stated that Lt. William Dinwiddie, United States Navy pilot, was killed Wednesday when a dive bomber he was piloting crashed into the Pacific ocean near San Diego.
Dinwidde was a graduate of the Onawa high school.
His wife is the former Norma Simpson of Castana, Ia. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dinwiddie here. Four sisters and a brother also survive.

William Howard “Bill” Dinwiddie was born Aug. 30, 1923 to Howard E. and Minnie Louise Dehn Dinwiddie. He died Mar. 7, 1945 and is buried in Onawa City Cemetery, Onawa, IA.
