Three Ventura Youth Join Armed Forces

VENTURA – Three Ventura residents have enlisted in the U. S. army recently. Teddy Wolfram has enlisted in the army and left Monday for Des Moines for final examination.

Normand Anderson, son of Elmer Anderson, has enlisted in the army and will leave for Des Moines Jan. 5.

Arnold Cooley was inducted into the army and left for Des Moines Wednesday.

Gets Purple Heart

The purple heart decoration has been awarded posthumously to Pfc. Arnold Cooley son of Mr. and Mrs. Addison Cooley, Ventura, according to a message received from the war department. Cooley was killed in action Dec. 14 in New Guinea.

Arnold Leroy Cooley was born June 12, 1918 to Addison Hibbard and Elina Cooley. He died Dec. 24, 1942 and is buried in Clear Lake Township Cemetery, Ventura, IA.

Pvt. Cooley served with the U.S. Army 126th Infantry, 32nd Infantry Division in World War II.
