PRISONERS OF WAR FROM HENRY COUNTY ARE LISTED
Henry county relatives of men who were prisoners of war in Germany anxiously await word from them. All likely have been freed, information from Germany indicates, but the mail facilities out of the country have broken down temporarily.
A list of the prisoners from the county has been compiled by the News. It may not include all. Corrections and additions should be mailed or telephoned to the News office.

Joseph Carson, New London, reported missing Feb. 17, 1943, prisoner of Italian government, April 17, 1943; later reported prisoner of Germans.

Joseph Vernard Carson was born July 31, 1919 to William H. and Frances Carson. He died Apr. 5, 2008 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, New London, IA.
Joseph served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was a German POW for two and one-half years.
