Avoca Soldier Killed in Action
Pvt. Earl E. Card of Avoca is among five Iowans killed in action in the Mediterranean area, the war department at Washington announced Tuesday.
Others named were Pvt. Lyle E. Fromang, Clinton; Sgt. Nolan M. Gilbert, Mason City; Pvt. John F. Hooker, Des Moines; and Pvt. Robert E. Reyerson, Northwood.

NOTE: Pvt. Earl E. Card died November 12, 1943, and was interred at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, Nettuno, Lazio, Italy. ~ ABMC
