Receives Word of Husband’s Death

Mrs. Matilda Blizzard of Omaha received word that her husband, 1st Lt. Howard S. Blizzard, was killed in action Dec. 15, 1944 while aboard a Japanese transport filled with American prisoners of war when it was sunk.

He attended St. Francis grade school and was graduated from Abraham Lincoln high school in 1932.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Blizzard, 1721 South Eleventh street; four brothers, Walter E. Blizzard at home, Maj. Roger M. Blizzard of the U. S. army air corps, Clyde R. Blizzard of Omaha, and Pfc. John W. Blizzard with the army in France; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth I. Jones of Council Bluffs.

A memorial mass will be held for him at St. Francis Xavier church Sunday at 8 a. m.
