Corning Officer Meets Deitrich In Germany
Marlene Dietrich, noted film star, entertaining men on the battle front in Germany, was the subject of Gordon Gammack’s column in the Des Moines Register Tuesday morning. Local interest in the story comes through the fact that a Corning boy, Capt. Sam Binder, was prominently mentioned. Gammack wrote:
“Then Dietrich posed for pictures with the Iowa G. I’s. and Capt. Sam Binder, 29, Corning, Iowa, commander of an anti-tank company, and a few others got her autograph on some foreign money.”
