Francis E. Baker, Pvt., M.P. Det., Camp Phillips, Kansas, is on night patrol duty in Salina, Kan. He was home last Christmas. His wife is continuing her teaching near Brunsville.

SOLDIER NEWS.

Aviation Cadet Douglas Baker and Pvt. Francis Baker left Monday after spending some time here with relatives and friends. Their wives accompanied them as far as Omaha. Doug is stationed at Victorville, California, and Francis at Camp Ellis, Illinois.

NEWS OF MERRILL MEN IN SERVICES.

Pvt. Francis Baker, a member of a medical corps, is now stationed on the Hawaiian Islands in a Veteran’s hospital. He was seasick the entire trip over but says it is a beautiful place. His brother, S/Sgt. Robert H. Baker enjoyed his entire trip to India, where he was sent on a special mission.

Francis Evans Baker was born Oct. 24, 1917 to Frank Emerson and Matha “Mattie” Elizabeth Jensen Baker. He died Nov. 30, 2000 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, IA.
