Notes About N.E. Iowans in the Service
OELWEIN—Sgt. Gerald Arrington, son of Mrs. O. R. Arrington of Oelwein, has received an honorable discharge from the Army. Since entering the service in May, 1942, he served at Sicily and Italy with the Third chemical battalion. He has been awarded the French Croix de Guerre with Bronze Star and the European theater ribbon with three battle stars.

Gerald Barton Arrington was born Dec. 27, 1919 to Olen Ray and Nellie Lucille Barton Arrington. He died Aug. 31, 1992 and has a cenotaph in Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Memorial Garden, Wilsonville, OR.
Dr. Arrington served in World War II and Korea.
