Leonard Gerhard Torgerson was born Feb. 16, 1916 to Gunder and Bertha Westberg Torgerson. He died June 8, 1944 (at sea) and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

Petty Officer Torgerson served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Meredith (DD-726) and was MIA/KIA after bombing strikes in the Bay of the Seine.
