Kermit Oscar Dahlen was born Sept.9, 1922 to Oscar Lovinius and Marie Elizabeth Johnson Dahlen. He died July 19, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint Avold, France and has a cenotaph in Forest Home Cemetery, Leland, IA.
2nd Lt. Dahlen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group and was MIA/KIA when he failed to return from a mission over Germany in his P-51B #43-6463. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
