Lee W. Zane, Jr. was born Feb. 8, 1919 to Lee W. (Sr.) and Bessie Cleo Hunter Zane. He died Nov. 13, 2012 and is buried in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, TX.

Capt. Zane served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He commanded a 250-man heavy weapons company in the 85th Infantry Division of the Fifth Army in North Africa and Italy, receiving the Silver Star and two bronze stars with “V” for valor. His men raised the first American flag in Rome, Italy after it was liberated on June 6, 1944.

Robert Dale Zane was born Jan. 5, 1923 to Leo W. and Bessie Cleo Hunter Zane. He died Jan. 12, 1986 and is buried in Green Glade Cemetery, Farmington, IA.

Robert served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.
