Claude Leroy Cody was born Feb. 9, 1920 to Edward Lyle and Bessie Cogley Cody. He died Oct. 14, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Cody served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA off the coast of Formosa in the South Pacific and awarded the Purple Heart.

Vernon Talbert Arthur Charmichael AKA Vernon Talbert Arthur Gray was born Aug. 23, 1917 to Earl Marion and Lillian Olson Gray. He was the adopted son of George W. and Eva Charmichael. He died Jan. 2, 1984 and is buried in Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, IA.

Vernon served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Air Transport Command.

John Eugene “Jack” Charvat was born Apr. 25, 1926 to Joseph and Ruzena “Rosa” Vanoureh Charvat. He died Aug. 22, 2005.

Jack served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Orland L. Conaway was born Aug. 4, 1922 to John A. and Jennie Dacker Conaway. He died Apr. 15, 1945 and is buried in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pvt. Conaway served in World War II with the U.S. Army 473rd Infantry Regiment and died in the service of his country.
