Raynard Richard Boege was born Dec. 30, 1925 to Clarence Leo and Mable Stacker Boege. He died July 30, 1945 and has a cenotaph in Maple Hill Cemetery, Gladbrook, IA and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Petty Officer Boege served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) and was MIA/KIA when that vessel was sunk after being struck by Japanese torpedoes in the Pacific Ocean and was awarded the Purple Heart.
