Charles Reid Schafer was born Dec. 16, 1919 to Henry C. and Fonnie Ferne “Ferne” Dickson Schafer. He died Sept. 26, 2008 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Maj. Schafer served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps participating with the Battle of the Bulge with the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, American Theater, Pre-Pearl Harbor ribbon, E.T.O. with two battle stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Victory ribbon, Presidential Citation, Oak Leaf Cluster, Belgium Croix de Guerre and the Holland citation.

Kingsley Martin Schaudt was born Mary 24, 1924 to William H. and Alma Queensland Schaudt. He died Sept. 20. 2001 and is buried in Slater Cemetery, Slater, IA.

Kingsley served in World War II with the U.S. Army 101st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade Headquarters and the 802nd Engineer Aviation Battalion.
