Marvin Royce Koele was born Jan. 22, 1920 to Nick and Jeanne Marie Vanden Berg Koele. He died Apr. 8, 1943 and is buried in Hope Cemetery, Hull, IA.

Sgt. Koele served in World War II with the U.S. Army 133rd Infantry, 34th Infantry Division.

Lawrence Walter Kooima was born July 26, 1917 to Tim and Gertie Groeneweg Kooima. He died Oct. 8, 1943 and is buried in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley, IA. 1st Lt. Kooima served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 306th Bombardment Group, 367th Bomb Squadron and was MIA/KIA over Bremen, Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was reported MIA in Oct. 1943. Later his temporary grave was found and his remains shipped home.
