Sgt. Sharp served in World War II with the U.S. Army 113th Cavalry (Mechanized) Service Troop and died of wounds received in action in France.

Petty Officer Sherk served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Colorado (BB-45) and was KIA as the result of a kamikaze attack.
