Edwin C. Scherz was born Mar. 28, 1915 to Werner and Elfrieda Rebecca Margaretha Schneckloth Scherz. He died Nov. 18, 1944 and is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.

Pvt. Scherz served in World War II with the U.S. Army 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division and was KIA in Germany and awarded the Purple Heart.

Vernon Dale Schlapkohl was born Nov. 16, 1918 to Rudolph R. and Emma Louise Printz Schlapkohl. He died Mar. 5, 1945 and is buried in Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.

Sgt. Schlapkohl served in World War II with the U.S. Army 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division and was KIA in Italy and awarded the Purple Heart.

Frederick Herbert “Fred” Schlueter was born Dec. 16. 1911 to Frederick Henry August and Nettie May Weaver Schlueter. He died Jan. 20, 1945 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Pvt. Schlueter served in World War II with the U.S. Army 20th Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division and died of wounds received in action on Luzon and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Melvin Clifford Schroeder was born July 14, 1919 to Hugo Bernhardt and Mae Pahl Schroeder. He died Apr. 6, 1945 and is buried in Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, IA.

Sgt. Schroeder served in World War II with the U.S. Army 310th Infantry, 78th Division and was MIA/KIA in Germany.

William F. “Bill" Schulz, Jr. was born May 25, 1923 to William F. (Sr.) and Loretta Goering Schulz. He died July 21, 1944 and is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport, IA. He was initially buried in Guam and returned to the U.S. in 1948.

Pvt. Schulz served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and was KIA in the Marshall Islands.

Glenn E. Schwerdtfeger was born Nov. 27, 1924 to Harold L. and Margaret A. Schwerdtfeger. He died Mar. 1, 1945 and is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty, IA. He was initially buried in the 3rd Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jim and was returned to the U.S. in 1948.

Pvt. Schwerdtfeger served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 9th Regiment, 3rd Division and was KIA on Iwo Jima.

Lt. Schwerin served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 49th Bombardment Squadron, 2nd Bombardment Group and was KIA on a bombing mission over Austria.
