Robert C. Hynson, Jr. was born July 11, 1920 to Robert C. and Elnora Whalen Hynson. He died Nov. 14, 1942 and is memorialized at the walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Hynson served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA aboard a plane which was lost during an attack on enemy shipping in the Solomon Islands. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
