William George Messerschmidt was born Feb. 21, 1921 to William George and Magdalena “Lena" Bladt Messerschmidt. He died Sept. 17, 1943 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, IA.
Petty Officer Messerschmidt served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pompano (SS-181) and was MIA/FOD/KIA off the northeast coast of Honshu, Japan when that vessel was lost at sea, cause unknown.

Richard Grant Metheny, Jr. was born Apr. 14, 1921 to Richard Grant (Sr.) and Abbie Gaile Landreth Metheny. He died May 20, 1983 and is buried in Lewis Township Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA.
Richard served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
