Bernard John Edward Bilskemper was born Sept. 20, 1917 to John and Hannah Gronewold Bilskemper. He died Oct. 8, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.

Sgt. Bilskemper served in World War II with the U.S. Army 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division and died of wounds received in action in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
