Merrill June Bayless was born June 17, 1920 to Olin Russell and Emma Grace Eby Bayless. He died Oct. 25, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Houser Cemetery, Northboro, IA.

Petty Officer Bayless served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Johnston (DD-557) and was MIA/KIA when that ship was sunk in the invasion of Leyte. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Donald Franklin Bearce was born Dec. 11, 1911 to Frank L. and Christina M. Dugan Bearce. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Hamm, Luxembourg. 

Pvt. Bearce served in World War II with the U.S. Army 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. He was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Harold Roy Beavers was born May 5, 1918 to Roy and Gerene Fleenor Beavers. He died Sept. 21, 1950 and is buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery and has a cenotaph at Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, IA. He was originally buried in Korea and later returned to the U.S.

Capt. Beavers served in World War II with the U.S. Army 743rd Tank Battalion and was on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He served in Korea with the 62nd Medium Tank Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division and was KIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

LeRoy Edmond Bennett was born Jan. 7, 1919 to Guy Henry and Mae Belle West Bennett. He died Mar. 10, 1945 and is buried in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.

Pvt. Bennett served in World War II with the U.S. Army 310th Infantry, 78th Infantry Division and was KIA in Germany.

Charles Edwin Black was born Jan. 31, 1926 to Isaac A. and Ella M. Godwin Black. He died July 1977 and is buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.

Sgt. Black served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
