From 1950-1956 he was a transport pilot of C-54 and C-118 cargo planes, stationed in Hawaii, New Hampshire and New Jersey. From 1956-1958 The Air Force Institute of Technology placed him at Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He returned to Flying C-54 and C-118’s from 1958-1962 from Hawaii. From 1962-1971 he was a computer programmer and analyst manager at Scott AFB in Illinois, Saigon, Vietnam and Fuchu Air Station, Japan. From 1971-1975 he was stationed at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts as a computer program upgrade manager which entailed checkout and testing of the Worldwide Military Command Control System at Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha, NE. From 1975-1976 he was the test director for 485L Tactical Air Command Control improvements at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas. He retired in 1976.
