LaVerne J. Simpson was born Feb. 7, 1924 to Carl Walter and Anna Marie Johnson Simpson. He died Oct. 31, 2013 and is buried in Whiting Cemetery, Whiting, IA.
Sgt. Simpson served in World War II with the U.S. Army where he was WIA at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
