Robert Raymond Kienast was born Jan. 23, 1927 to Henry H. and Herbertena Michels Kienast. He died Nov. 24, 2001 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA.

Sgt. Kienast served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

John D. Kirchoff was born July 16, 1926 to Conrad and Kate Campen Kirchoff. He died Jan. 16, 2001 and is buried in Saint Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Riceville, IA.

John served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.

Galen Charles Kittleson was born Aug. 14, 1924 to Floyd Lawrence and Caroline Emma Feldt Kittleson. He died May 4, 2006 and is buried in First Lutheran Cemetery, Saint Ansgar, IA.

Command Sgt. Maj. Kittleson served in World War II with the U.S. Army, becoming airborne qualified and was assigned to the 503rd Regimental Combat Team in the Pacific Theater. He was later selected for the Alamo Scouts (elite reconnaissance unit) and while an Alamo Scout, helped free 511 POWs of the infamous Bataan Death March from the Cabanatuan Prison, as portrayed in the movie “The Great Raid”. He was discharged in 1946 but later re-enlisted and served in in Germany with the 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Infantry Division and the 10th Special Forces Group. He served in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces and was selected in 1970 for the SON TAY raid to rescue American POWs. He was promoted to Command Sg. Maj. of the 1st Special Forces Group in Okinawa and later the 7th Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg until his retirement.

Glenn Dale Kittleson was born Sept. 3, 1925 to Glen and Della Nicholson Kittleson. He died Apr. 7, 2016 and is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX.

Sgt. Major Kittleson served with the U.S. Army in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Leroy Emil Bennie Kittleson was born Jan. 18, 1926 to Floyd Lawrence and Caroline Emma Feldt Kittleson. He died Oct. 25, 1948 and is buried in First Lutheran Cemetery, Saint Ansgar, IA.

Pvt. Kittleson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 5th Cavalry.

Paul Edwin Kittleson was born Sept. 25, 1921 to Elon E. and Anna Hobbit Kittleson. He died Mar. 29, 1996 and is buried in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.

Maj. Kittleson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
