Orra Eugene Gilbert was born July 5, 1920 to O. D. and Alice Fanny Gilbert. He died June 29, 1943 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO. He was initially buried in USAF Cemetery New Georgia and returned to the U.S. in 1948.
Platoon Sgt. Gilbert served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps, P Company, 4th Raider Battalion and participated in combat operations at Segi Point and Viru Harbor until KIA.
