His name is listed on the Tablets of the Missing, Florence American Cemetery and Memorial, Florence Italy with a rosette, indicating remains have been recovered.
Sgt. Steinford served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 429th Bomb Squadron, 2nd Bomb Group, 15th Air Force and became MIA/KIA when he bailed out of his B-17 aircraft, damaged by German anti-aircraft fire, while on a bombing mission bound for Berlin, Germany.
