Carl Owen Beitz was born Oct. 12, 1921 to Charles Frederick and Emma Elizabeth Pickering Beitz. He died June 6, 1942 and has a cenotaph in Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett, IA.

Petty Officer Beitz served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hammann (DD-412) which was torpedoed while alongside the damaged USS Yorktown during the battle of Midway. The destroyer was hit amidship and sank in less than four minutes.

Alvin J. Benish was born May 22, 1916 to John J. and Lizzie Lopata Benish. He died Jan. 29, 1947 and is buried in Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA. Sgt. Benish served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

Rodney Carl Berger was born Apr. 1, 1917 to John L. and Anna Prabel Berger. He died May 18, 1990.

Rodney served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Harley Leo Berry was born May 21, 1914 to Harley Robert and Faye Ethyl Kleinecke Berry. He died Dec. 15, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Berry served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pecos (AO-6) when that vessel was bombed by enemy planes and sank in the open sea south of Java. He was listed as MIA.
