Wesley George Calhoun was born Oct. 9, 1912 to Orville Chester and Lillie Grace Corsbie Calhoun. He died Dec. 2, 1944 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Chief Petty Officer Calhoun served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and died when the Navy was testing to see how much helium gas a man could take before he would pass out. Chief Calhoun was put into a room with helium and watched through a window. When he began to show signs of too much helium, he was quickly removed. Wesley showed no signs of overexposure at all, but suddenly dropped dead. He was first buried in Ft. Madison, IA but in 1948 his body was taken to Arlington Cemetery and re-buried there.
