John William Dorothy was born Jan. 19, 1918 to Mark H. and Marian H. Christensen Dorothy. He died Oct. 5, 1985 and is buried in Wilcox Cemetery, Fairview, IA.
Pvt. Dorothy served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was overseas for 29 months, participating in combat in Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and five battle stars.
