John Hokes Evans was born Oct. 7, 1918 to Roy L. and Cora Elizabeth Evans. He died June 18, 1944 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg, IA. He was initially buried in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Saipan.
Lt. Evans served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corp 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Saipan.
