Duane Julian Counsell was born Mar. 31, 1921 to Dale James and Burlette Ingeborg Egdahl Counsell. He died Dec. 4, 2011 and is buried in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
LCDR Counsell served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Advanced Carrier Training Group, Carrier Aircraft Service Units 1, 2, 5, 45, and 68 and aboard the USS Nassau (CVE-16). He also served in Korea and Vietnam.
