Paul Edgar Bales was born Apr. 8, 1924 to Claude Lester and Kathryn F. Sherman Bales. He died Oct. 28, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Adair, IA.

Petty Officer Bales served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA in battle off Samar, Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

LeRoy Melvin Barrett was born Oct. 9, 1922 to Eugene Dieterichs and Lucy Helen Snook Barrett. He died Jan. 30, 2007 and is buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Menlo, IA. LeRoy served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Darrell Duane Bassett was born Feb. 17, 1927 to Flory D. and Ilo C. Purviance Bassett. He died Aug. 13, 1948 and is buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Menlo, IA.

Petty Officer Bassett served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Ellsworth James Bateham was born Dec. 6, 1914 to James Ray and Gertrude Ridenour Bateham. He died Dec. 14, 1944 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, IA.

Sgt. Bateham served in World War II with the U.S. Army 134th Infantry, 35th Division and was KIA in Germany.

John Vincent Brinton was born Nov. 23, 1920 to Benjamin Burr and Mary Etta “Mamie" VanDuzer Brinton. He died Jan. 25, 1990 and is buried in Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL. Sgt. Brinton served with the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II.

William Merle Brinton was born Dec. 15, 1911. He was the adopted son of Benjamin Burr and Mary Etta “Mamie" VanDuzer Brinton. He died Apr. 4, 1997 and is buried in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, IA.

Richard Curtis Buttler was born May 26, 1920 to Orville V. and Alma Irwin Buttler. He died Mar. 12, 1944 and is buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA. 

2nd Lt. Buttler served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 849th Bomb Squadron, 490th Bomb Group and was killed in an airplane crash at Mountain Home Army Air Base in Idaho.
