James Herman Johnson was born Nov. 6, 1915 to Albert and Emma VanLangen Johnson. He died Dec. 28, 1944 and is buried in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, IA.

James served in World War II with the U.S. Navy at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA and San Diego, CA and died from accidental drowning while serving his country.
