Freeman Severene Knudtson was born Nov. 8, 1919 to Knudt Severene and Mary Rebecca Jones Knudtson. He died Jan. 28, 2022 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, IA.
Freeman served in World War II with the U.S. Army in a searchlight outfit along the California coast and desert. Later he was among 20,000 Allied soldiers who traveled the North Atlantic Ocean aboard the Queen Mary troop-ship to Scotland. He then served within a communications company in France, Germany, Holland and Austria.

Raymond LaVerne “Ray" Kurtz was born Sept. 15, 1919 to Clarence Raymond and Esther Augusta Rentz Kurtz. He died June 14, 2012 and is buried in Storm Lake Cemetery, Storm Lake, IA.
Ray served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (APV-1/AKV-1), USS Casablanca (AVG/ACV/CVE-55) and the USS Hogatt Bay (CVE-75). During his service, he received numerous awards and honors.
