Charles Edward Gardiner was born Jan. 13, 1918 to Benjamin F. and Jennie M. Glantz Gardiner. He died Mar. 3, 1945 and is buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, IA.

Sgt. Gardiner served in World War II with the U.S. Army Company F, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division and was KIA by a German sniper near Hemispand, Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Europe-Africa-Middle East Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.

George Tracy Garrett was born Dec. 24, 1915 to Joshua Tracy and Kathleen Pearl Tibbitts Garrett. He died Aug. 27, 1947 and is buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, IA. 

Capt. Garrett served in World War II with the U.S. Army Medical Section, 1550th Service Command Unit.

Lester Herman Gerst was born July 20, 1918 to Eugene A. and Rosie Knapp Gerst. He died Mar. 17, 2004 and is buried in Parsons Cemetery, Toolesboro, IA.

Lester served in World War II with the U.S. Army as an aviation engineer equipment operator (834th Engineer Battalion) and helped build the first airstrip on Normandy Beach.

Chester Raymond Gibbs was born Dec. 20, 1923 to John L. and Ida Elizabeth Reiter Gibbs. He died Dec. 21, 1944 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.

Sgt. Gibbs served in World War II with the U.S. Army 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division and died of wounds received in action in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Europe-Africa-Middle East Medal and Combat Infantry Badge.

He was awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.
