Pvt. Earp served in World War II as a machine gunner in the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and participated in the invasions of the Anzio beachhead and southern France. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Maj. Gen. Evans had a long and distinguished military career of 37 years in the U.S. Army advancing in rank from Private to Major General. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II as a field artillery commander in the Philippines and Japan. He was inducted into the Artillery School Hall of Fame at Fort Sill, OK, and the Quartermaster School Hall of Fame at Fort Lee, VA. He was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with cluster and numerous other citations during his career. He served as a General Officer for 11 years commanding the 103rd Support Brigade and the 103rd Corps Support Command at Fort Des Moines, IA and the 88th Army Reserve Command at Fort Snelling, MN. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal upon retirement.
