Sgt. Cagley served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 2nd Bomb Group, 429th Squadron and 224th Base Unit at Sioux City, IA.

Ellsworth Lee Campbell was born Mar. 4, 1921 to Elmer Ellsworth and Mary Elizabeth Roehrich Campbell. He died Apr. 11, 1944 and is buried in New Hampton Cemetery, New Hampton, IA.
Sgt. Campbell served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial gunner. His first plane, San Antonio Rose, was crippled in a raid and was brought back to base with only three of its crew members. For this they won a Presidential Citation and Oak Leaf Cluster. He was then assigned to the Wee Miss America, which was lost on April 11, over Ponzan, Poland on his 24th mission. At this time he had an Air Medal and two more Oak Leaf Clusters added to his credit. He was also awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.
