John M. “Jack” Fuller was born Aug. 19, 1919 to Fred E. and Maude K. Crane Fuller. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, IA. 

Capt. Fuller served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division, 321st Glider Field Artillery Battalion in World War II. He saw action in both D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. His body was temporarily buried in Europe but returned to Cedar Falls in 1949. Jack was the first American posthumously awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by the Boy Scouts, receiving the honor he had set his sights on as a child.
