Nick Gus Vasos was born Nov. 23, 1918 to Gus B. and Myrtle B. Fiscus Vasos. He died Nov. 8, 1942 and is buried in North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, Tunis, Tunisia and has a cenotaph in Carroll City Cemetery, Carroll, IA.

Sgt. Vasos served with the U.S. Army 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and was KIA in French Morocco. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
