Neil William Johnson was born Sept. 20, 1909 to Merrills Julius and Ruby J. Harmer Johnson. He died Aug. 30, 1942 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and is memorialized at the Cabanatuan Memorial, Philippines.
This site marks the site of the Japanese Cabanatuan POW Camp where approximately 75,000 American and Philippine servicemen and civilians were held captive after the fall of the Philippine Island. There are 2,756 names listed on the Memorial--Neil Johnson’s name is one of them. Capt. Johnson served with the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II.
