The Govenors of the states concerned unanimously agreed that Brig. Gen. Mathew A. Tinley, then commanding the Sixty-seventh Infantry Brigade, should be the first Division Commander and accordingly he was promoted to Major General, Iowa National Guard, and assigned to the command of the Thirty-fourth Division on July 14, 1924. |
