The judicial seat of Worth County, is an incorporated town, located on the Shell Rock River and on the Iowa Central and Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroads (joint depot), 20 miles north of Mason City, 80 northwest of Cedar Falls, and 170 northeast of Des Moines. Is lighted by electricity, has an excellent system of water works, fire department, telephone facilities, 4 churches, good schools, 2 banks, and 2 weekly newspapers, the Anchor and the Worth County Index.
