HISTORY OF MITCHELL AND WORTH COUNTIES, IOWA, VOL. II, 1918, page 274

CLARENCE O. SHEIMO is the senior partner in the firm of Sheimo & Jones, well known merchants of Fertile, Worth county. His entire life has been passed in this county and his course has commended him to the confidence, goodwill and to the patronage of the general public. He was born in Danville township on the 30th of September, 1877, a son of Kittel O. and Mary (Ouverson) Sheimo. The father was born in Telemarken, Norway, while the mother's birth occurred in Dane county, Wisconsin. In young manhood Kittel O. Sheimo came to the new world and established his home in Dane county, Wisconsin, where he secured employment as a farm hand. He afterward sought the opportunities of the west and made his way to Northwood, Worth county, Iowa, while subsequently he cultivated a farm in Danville township. Later he purchased farm property in Fertile township and now has two hundred and twenty acres of excellent land which he has brought under a high state of cultivation and to which he has added many modern improvements in the shape of good buildings and farm machinery. He has reached the age of sixty-eight years. His political allegiance is given to the republican party and his religious faith is that of the Norwegian Lutheran church. He has become widely and favorably known during the long period of his residence in Worth county, in which he settled when it was still a frontier district.

Clarence O. Sheimo spent his boyhood days upon the home farm in Fertile township and his educational advantages were those offered by the district schools. He continued to assist his father upon the home farm until he reached the age of twenty-four years, after which he rented farmland in the same township and cultivated it for sixteen years. In January, 1917, he purchased his present business and is now identified with the commercial interests of Fertile as one of the proprietors of a general store. The firm of Sheimo & Jones is well known and they are enjoying a liberal patronage owing to their progressive methods, their reasonable prices and their earnest desire to please their customers.

In 1901, Mr. Sheimo was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Anderson, a daughter of Peter and Carrie Anderson. She was born in Fertile township and her father was numbered among the prominent and prosperous farmers of the community. To Mr. and Mrs. Sheimo has been born one child, Lila.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Sheimo have spent their entire lives in Worth county, where they have a wide acquaintance, and they enjoy the goodwill, high regard and confidence of many with whom they have been brought in contact. The hospitality of the best homes of Fertile and the surrounding community is cordially extended them and the good cheer of their own home is greatly enjoyed by their many friends.
