A. H. Kobernusz

A. H. Kobernusz, who is engaged in general farming on section 30, Lincoln township, Worth county, was born in Clayton county, Iowa, on the 5th of April, 1891, a son of William C. and Minnie (Bonker) Kobernusz. The father was born in Germany but came to the United States with his parents when a lad of twelve years, the family home being established in Chicago, where they remained for several years and then removed to Clayton county, Iowa, where William C. Kobernusz was reared and married. He continued to reside in that county until 1901, when he removed to Worth county and purchased the farm upon which his son, A. H., now resides. He then devoted his time, attention and energies to general agricultural pursuits fof a number of years, meeting with substantial success in the undertaking. In 1914, however, he retired from active farming and rented his land to his son, A. H., while he took up his abode in Manly, where he is now living, enjoying the fruits of his former toil.

A. H. Kobernusz, spending his youthful days under the parental roof, was a pupil in the district schools and when not husy with his textbooks aided in the work of the home farm, thus early becoming familiar with the best methods of tilling the soil and caring for the crops. On the 2ist of February, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Stickfort, of Clayton county, and to them have been born three children: Melvin C., Loyal C. and Alton B.

During the spring following his marriage Mr. Kobernusz rented the home farm and began its cultivation independently. He has since given his care and attention to the further development and improvement of the land with good results. He is also a stockholder in the Farmers Cooperative Creamery Com­pany of Manly and is a stockholder in the Farmers Telephone Company of Manly and the Farmers Stock Shipping Company there. He is likewise a member of the American Society of Equity. In politics he, maintains an independent course, while in religious faith he and his wife are connected with the German Evangelical church. His activity and enterprise in business are resulting in the attainment of substantial success and he is now recognized as one of the alert, energetic and prosperous farmers of Lincoln township, Worth county.
