Gunder K. Felland, a farmer and stockman of Worth County, living on section 18, Fertile township, is cultivating 133 acres of the old homestead farm and is engaged in the breeding of Percheron horses and shorthorn cattle. In addition he owns valuable property in Joice, from which he derides a good rental. In a word, he is an alert, energetic businessman, carrying forward to successful completion whatever he undertakes. He was born Sept. 29, 1880 on the farm where he now resides and where he has made his home throughout his entire life. He pursued a district school education and in 1898, at the age of 18 years, began farming on his own account, cultivating a portion of the old homestead. His parents are natives of Norway and came to the United States in young manhood and womanhood, arriving here about 1873. They crossed the Atlantic on the same vessel and became residents of Worth county, not far from Northwood. Here they were married and a year later they removed to Bristol township, where they lived for about a year. They then removed to a farm just west of Joice and a year afterward they removed to the present home farm, where have since resided, and name of Felland has since been closely and prominently associated with the development of the agricultural interests of this part of the state.

Gunder Felland, reared to agricultural pursuits has always given his attention to farm work and is now cultivating 133 acres of the old homestead, his interests being carried on most successfully owing to his enterprising spirit and untiring industry. He has made a specialty of the breeding of thoroughbred Percheron horses and shorthorn cattle and this branch of his business has proven very profitable. He also owns the finest business block in Joice. It was recently erected and is a strictly modern structure, comprising three commodious stores, and he likewise owns a garage building. He has through his industry and good business judgment placed himself among the substantial men and progressive citizens of Worth county.

On the 3rd of December, 1904, Mr. Felland was united in marriage to Miss Martha Field, a daughter of N. A. Field, a prominent farmer of Fertile township, Worth county, and they become the parents of three children who are yet living, Marvin N., Adaline C. and Roy D.

In politics Mr. Felland is republican, and while not a politician in the usual sense of office seeking, he stands firmly for the principles in which he believes. He is now serving on the school board and the cause of education finds in him a stalwart champion. He is also a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church and guides his life according to its teachings. He has always been a resident of Worth county and many sterling traits of his character are recognized by those among whom he has lived.

Another child, Wallace, was born in 1919. Gunder moved to Lake Mills, Iowa in 1926 and to Forest City, Iowa in 1931. He died in Forest City in 1960.
