Ole L. Elvesether

Ole L. Elvesether, who departed this life in 1905, had for many years been actively engaged in farming in Danville township, Worth county, and his sterling traits of character had endeared him to many friends and made him one of the respected and valued citizens of his community. He was born in Norway on the 3d of April, 1863, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Elvesether, who were also natives of that country, where they were reared and married. They were farming people and never came to the United States.

Ole L. Elvesether spent his boyhood and youth in Norway to the age of nineteen years, when he determined to try his fortune in America and came to the United States. He first took up his abode in Dane county, Wisconsin, and afterward removed to Danville township, Worth county, where he purchased the farm upon which his widow now resides. He originally acquired one hundred and twenty acres, to which he afterward added a forty acre tract. This farm lies a half mile east and a half mile north of Hanlontown and is a valuable property, well improved. Mr. Elvesether took the greatest interest in the development and cultivation of his place and added to it many modern improvements in the way of good buildings, well kept fences and modern machinery. He felt a just pride in the excellent appearance of his place with its well tilled fields, annually bringing forth abundant harvests, and he successfully and continuously operated his land until his death, which occurred in 1905, when he was but forty-two years of age.

Mr. Elvesether was married in Dane county, Wisconsin, of which county Mrs. Elvesether is a native. Her parents were farming people there, having come from Norway at an early date, their remaining days being passed in Wisconsin. Mrs. Elvesether still survives her husband and occupies the old homestead farm. She is now sixty-seven years of age. To Mr. and Mrs. Elevesether was born a son, Oscar L., who in 1912 was united in marriage to Miss Almira Erickson, a daughter of Thomas and Lizzie Erickson and a native of Fillmore county, Minnesota. Her parents were farming people and were early settlers of Minnesota. To Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Elvesether has- been born a son, Orville. Oscar L. Elvesether is actively identified with farming interests, operating the old homestead place, and he is also prominently known in other business connections, being a stockholder in the Farmers Savings Bank of Hanlontown, also in the Farmers Creamery Company and in the Farmers Elevator Company of Hanlontown. He is actuated in all that he does by a spirit 'of ,progressiveness and his energy and capable management of his business affairs are bringing to him well merited and creditable success.
