Clarence O. Arneson Biography

Clarence O. Arneson

Clarence O. Arneson is extensively engaged in farming in Worth county, cultivating four hundred and forty acres of land on section 35, Bristol township. He is a very enterprising and progressive young man who carries forward to successful completion whatever he undertakes. He was born in Dane county, Wisconsin, on the 28th of October, 1888, and is a son of Arne and Carrie (Kittleson) Arneson, who are also natives of that state, the former having been born in Iowa county and the latter in Dane county, where they were married. In 1892 they left Wisconsin and removed to Worth county, Iowa, settling in Bristol township, where Mr. Arneson acquired three hundred and six acres of valuable farm land, which he continued to cultivate and improve until 1916. He then turned the operation of the farm over to his sons and took up his abode in Joice, where he is now living retired, enjoying a rest which he has truly earned and richly merits.

Clarence O. Arneson was educated in the district schools and in the Luther Academy at Albert Lea, Minnesota, liberal educational opportunities thus well qualifying him for life's practical and responsible duties. On reaching his majority, in 1910, he went to South Dakota and took up a homestead in Perkins county, upon which he remained for about 'eighteen months. He proved up on the property and in July, 1911, he returned to Worth county, selling his South Dakota homestead the following year. In the spring of 1912 he began farming on his own account, operating the old homestead the first year on shares. In 1913, however, he purchased from his father the farm implements and stock and has since carried on the home farm on a cash rent basis. He now rents and cultivates altogether four hundred and forty acres of land, placing him among the prominent farmers of Bristol township, conducting extensive agricultural interests. He now owns two hundred and eighty acres of land in North Dakota, situated within two and a half miles of Devils Lake. His has been a most active, useful and honorable career and his diligence and enterprise have won for him very substantial and gratifying, success. He is a stockholder in the Farmers Incorporated Cooperative Society of Joice and in the Farmers Cooperative Creamery Company of Joice.

On the nth of December, 1912, Mr. Arneson was united in marriage to Miss Bertina Bergland, of Winnebago county, and to them have been born two children, Charles O. and Bernette T. Politically Mr. Arneson is a republican and the religious faith of himself and wife is that of the Norwegian Lutheran church. They are widely and favorably known in the locality in which they make their home and the hospitality of the best homes of the community is warmly extended them. Mr. Arneson is one of the prominent stock men of Bristol township, having over one hundred and fifteen head of high grade cattle and about the same number of high grade Duroc Jersey hogs. His business affairs are most wisely conducted and his enterprise and energy have enabled him to steadily advance toward the goal of prosperity.
